In 2000, Rebecca Pearce attended the auction for the Junior Livestock Show at the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo and, like everyone who goes to it, was immediately caught up in the excitement and fever of the Auction.  She was also overwhelmed by the support of such groups as Del Frisco, the Old Goats and the Fort Worth Pig Club.  The only animals that did not have active buyer support was the lambs.  She talked to her husband, Syndicate member John Pearce, and "Ladies on the Lamb" was born.  One problem: she had no ladies.

The night before the 2001 sale, at the Backstage Club, the subject came up in front of then chairman Gary Ray. He loved the idea and said, "You have to do this.  Tomorrow". Later that evening, Gary informed Rebecca of the news: "You are doing Ladies on the Lamb tomorrow and I have guaranteed contributors and funds for you. You just go and buy the grand champion lamb and don't worry about it." No one knew who this Ladies on the Lamb group was nor what we were up to.  But buy the champion they did.

The next year, at a meeting with the FWSSS, the Ladies on the Lamb idea got full support.  Rebecca contacted friends and they enthusiastically jumped on the wagon.

The 2002 sale was even better. Ladies on the Lamb raised enough to purchase both the Grand Champion and Reserve Champion Lambs. The Grand Champion was purchased for $16,500—10,000 more that the 2001 purchase and the reserve Champion for $8,500 -- double that of 2001.  People began to take notice.  In 2003, LOL added a few more members and purchased the Grand Champion, Reserve and two class champions, getting a little bigger and better every year.  That year LOL became a Non-Profit 501(C) 3 Corporation.

In 2004, LOL purchased the Grand Champion for a record breaking $20,000, the Reserve for $16,500, and four class champions for $4,000+. In 3 short years, LOL has become the 3 rd largest sponsor of the FWSSS and the Junior Livestock Sale.
