Fort Worth Forward

Welcome to Fort Worth Forward, where we explore the heart of the rodeo in Fort Worth, Texas. In this episode, we dive into the 125th year of the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo, taking place at the Dickies Arena and Will Rogers Memorial Complex. We're joined by representatives from the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo, the Fort Worth Stock Show Syndicate, Women's Steering Business, and Methodist Justice Ministries, all making significant contributions to the community.

Matt Brockman and Cal White from the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo share insights about the event's long history, with only two cancellations in 125 years. They discuss exciting new additions, like the Texas Champions Challenge, mutton bustin finals, and a Pro Rodeo featuring local qualifiers. The addition of a new barrel man, Matt Merritt, promises entertainment and interaction for fans.

But the rodeo is about more than just thrilling performances. It's a platform for youth development. The stock show offers opportunities for young participants, provides scholarships, and serves as an educational incubator for the livestock industry.

The economic impact of the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo on the city is substantial, contributing over $110 million directly, which significantly benefits local businesses and city infrastructure.

Next, we meet with the Fort Worth Stock Show Syndicate and Women's Steering Business Committee. These groups raise funds and provide scholarships to support young individuals involved in the rodeo, helping them pursue education and personal growth. The Syndicate focuses on the sale of champions, raising over $65 million for youth in agriculture since 1980.

Women's Steering Business, on the other hand, is a unique buying group. Their members personally contribute funds to help the kids, providing 100% of the money they raise to the beneficiaries. This support has changed the lives of many young individuals, opening doors to education and opportunities.

Finally, we learn about Methodist Justice Ministries, an organization dedicated to helping individuals facing challenging family law cases related to domestic violence and child abuse. They provide legal assistance, counseling, emergency financial aid, and support for families seeking safety and stability.

The Foodie Philanthropy event in 2022 has chosen Methodist Justice Ministries as its charity partner, helping raise funds and awareness for their essential work.

These remarkable organizations, together with the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo, showcase the community's giving spirit and commitment to uplifting the lives of those in need.
